A WINTER COUNTRY STROLL
~ Linda L. Dowd ~

+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+
Today I strolled down country lane,
And snow crunched with each step.
My mind was in a happy frame,
And my spirit full of pep.

No clouds were in cerulean sky,
As sun rays melt crisp snow.
The river ran clear and cold,
With crystal ice in floe.

Feathery plumes of vapor frost,
Billowed with every song,
~ Of thankfulness and happiness,
That I sang as strolled along.

Sweeping bows of cedars bent,
With weight of mantle white.
All did shine and sparkle as,
The winter’s sun shone bright.

I came upon a country store,
At the top of Kilbride Hill.
I sipped a cup of hot chocolate,
To warm my winter chill.

Fresh-baked goods smelled heavenly,
And I tasted many a sample.
I was offered several more,
~ but I had eaten ample!

I headed back on to the road,
And deeply breathed the air.
I felt an inner calm and joy,
And did not have a care.

Today I strolled down country lane,
And snow crunched with each step.
My mind was in a happy frame,
And my spirit full of pep.

a bit chilly but somehow i think if our paths met on that snowy hill, you would be skipping and singing for sure

Ohhh, this is sooo lovely, I was skipping and singing right along with you ...

and good that you had to WALK back too, after the hot chocolate and the cookies?!

My longing for snow has been soothed just for a nice long moment with your country stroll.

Love and hugs.

Linda,
I would like to have lunched with you! How I miss the snow. A heavy price to pay for sunshine. Fun write.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

iliana ~

That was cute ~ and funny! lol I do love those "Calgon" moments that "take me away" as well!

I suppose if you were to read my poem while you were soaking in a Calgon bath, you'd really be taken far, far away!

Huggums,
Linda

If we were to meet up, I'd stop singing and skipping so that I could engage in a conversation with you! From reading your provocative and thought-provoking poetry, I'd like to know what else is going on in your fascinating and creative mind!

Hiya, stranger! It is sooo good to hear from you!

I would have enjoyed having lunch with you as well! I love the snow too much to ever move away from it. Actually, I love all the seasons and there is such a dramatic change between them in my neck of the woods!

Loves 'n hugs,
Linda
