He lived upstairs
family plot of horrors
the sister wouldn't throw out a brother
though he'd only talk about himself
his solace was an imagined pain
a stranger's ear became his drain
"I can tell you what severe pain is,"
that was the horrific start
of his independant demise.

Pain was his storefront topic
perverted ploy to gain affection
when one body region had had its fill
another part took over;
family was his abuse
he lived upstairs
with the house paid
the sister became the maid
listened to how his pain travelled
concerned only with himself
life just lost its lustre in a day
sister would still wait on him
as a servant does his master
after all he lived upstairs
nowhere close to heaven.

I'll have to agree with the others on this piece.

I immediatley thought of the Beatles' song, "Fool on the Hill" when I read this.  Don't know why, just did.  Enjoyed the read.   ......jo
