A small death

My knees are bleeding
why is the down still clinging
soft as heaven's gate?

There   a requiem
whispers to pay attention
next time will be more

I hear them crying
and I cannot save them all
but I can listen

You know my feelings about this, and that it should happen today of all days, when we've lost such a one from this group, seems more than sad.

There's poetry in the loss of even the least creature we love, and sometimes more than poetry.

Martie - How touching this is and how important the listening is too. You've left me thinking about death and it's worthy of thought.
