In Your Poetic Mind

Even now we can no longer
remember how much of the world
we gave up

we wore the scent as lightness,
a butterfly cloaked in streams of
silver linings

and evenings slow decent
to something familiar--
between days as they open
to night

and I imagine you in fragrance
of morning
a ghost walking away
from the  amber of memory

it comes too from the ache
of stones and grains of sand
laying heavy  upon earth

that I would pass through
this journey along the lines of time
that wore the cold of December

I've pressed   my palms to this place before
so he could see inside me
and touch the roots of my being

for this seasons return
I pray
as I write these pages
for the smoke to rise
while we find the way to speak those words

when I awoke
the window sills
were wet from the passing storm

and the garden still sits in silence
waiting for the

bloom

"to all that was once green"

You intermingle nature, memories, and love so beautifully here and what I like the best from your poem is the promise of bloom. I do soooo look forward to spring. Enjoyed reading and I do think that you exceeded here on this challenge. Very Good. -Bob

You know...I loved how I thought about those lines.  Stopped to think them 3 time I did and all three times, I felt it a window to a soul.  Loved this Lauren.

December grows cold in too many ways
and the memory of green fades . . .

enjoyed, nevertheless
