tiers fall in awe of you

for where the deserving?

not in this mirror

seen are only shadows & doubt
still, your beautiful face
begs near faithfully
each day God bestows

known are pain of years
yet you swallow them into nothing
with the vastness of your spring
garden heart

So many opportunities denied
so many offers of satin & silk
to my rumpled cotton declined
how could I not be in awe?

because

where's the deserving?
