I was listening to something in the UK about kids getting into trouble between 13 and 17.

I know we don’t have National Service anymore and the peers don’t understand they have come from nothing and others look up to them and that keeps them targeted on honest endavours.

There is a way
Not of fire bombs
Not to hurt
Beyond understanding
Of what harm you do

No-one will make you more than you can
You know in yourself what you need
We know what we should do
And that you should be the priority

We need your help to understand
Why it takes so long
Almost to the point that you don’t need the words
To understand
Why we can’t find alternatives

And yes money

And countries that let you die
For their own ends

And we all need to go through something
But in yourself
You know

And I suppose we only give you

Freedom

When

We felt we couldn’t make you

In some image

We never achieved.

what, are you saying they wait 'till age 13 in the UK?
seriously though, Dave, after spending half my life working with children aged birth-70? LOVE and lots of understanding (as well as discipline) and RESPECT for them as individuals.

I appreciate your comments but by the time I was 6 I was known to most Bus Inspectors for giving my name and address around London to just travel, although most of it was to the Museums which were free and I could learn watch and see.

By the time I hit this age and the UK does very little to help kids stay off the streets, I knew that as soon as I could, I had to get out of the environment.

The Royal Navy provided that environment.

It took me, it broke me, it rebuilt and I didn't like an inch.

Everything I have achieved in my life, no matter how I fought it, was to the discipline that the Royal Navy instilled in me.

I worked with ex-prisoners in a voluntary capacity and the down and outs with a partner "Vidi Narayan" for the first years and then themselves but using Accountancy skills on failing entities.

But nothing I achieved would have been achieved with the Royal Navy, it's values and it's training.

Mothering is fine for some but I needed discipline.

Dave
