I sit along the corridor
Just passing the time of day
These people come to visit
And for just awhile they stay

I don't know who they are
But they seem to know me
My life seems so confusing
Things aren't how they used to be

I sit here like a statue
But no one really seems to care
Blank faces are all around me
Into space is where they stare

I watch the flowers wilting
In the vase next to the door
Once bright colors are now fading
Soon their life will be no more

In God's waiting room I sit
A flight to heaven I await
As I glance down at my watch
It seems my flight is running late

Sue, when your time does come for you to go to the Other Side (and don't be in a hurry, my friend), you will have no need to sit in God's Waiting Room! The Gates of Heaven will be immediately flung wide open as God welcomes back one of His angels!

Hugs with love,
Linda

Thank you all so very much.  I tried to put myself into the shoes of an Alzheimer's sufferer when I wrote this.

Take care........Sue

Awwww Sue, this is beautiful. I now work as a home health aide. I go to a couples house where the lady has demintia and the man is alzheimer. The lady is a whole lot more difficult to handle, than the man is. The man is so sweet, most of the time. It is only when his wife gets riled up, that I have problems with the man. My heart goes out to both of them. I watch him as he wanders around his house, and he seems so lost. Anyway, thank you for sharing this beautiful poem.

Sue

It sounds almost like a prayer for a visit.

I watched a show the other night and a guy in a car had to get to a place in Europe before using normal travel the others did.

I hope anyone coming to get me uses normal trains, planes and buses or maybe the speed humps need to be built higher so the funeral wagon can't get in.

Sad words and early ones I hope.

Sue & Dave

Thanks so much for your comments.

Sue - I also visit an elderly lady every Friday who has the beginnings of Alzheimers and it is so sad to see her as she is getting progressively worse.

Take care.......Sue

it hurts to watch our loved ones disappear even though a shell of what once was continues on with us - touching write -
