Silently the voices all fade
from my souls parade,
silently the screams of youth
destroy my faith.
Under the clouds of profanity
I see my eyes close again,
and wash my mind clear
of all I can stand.
Silently the voices all fade
as they whisper my name,
catching my hell inside
and my dreams away.
I fall victim to the
choices I see,
only to stare once more
at the cycle of tears.
Silently we pray for
souls of the dead,
not wanting to whisper
the truth of another genocide.
Silently we cover our eyes
and played with the word,
as those buried in Auschwitz
turned to the west.
What form of whisper can we
cover our ears?
To the pain of indifference
and the slaughter of youth.
Silently the wall came down
and with it our pride,
only to hide in our flag
and let the world die

Am not quite certain of which you speak, so much in this world to sorrow over - but i like to think that we are not all blind - and i truly wish our country would turn its gaze upon our own for a bit, to fix our woes, so we could be strong and help others through charity and compassion -

my daughter attends one of the more poverty stricken schools in our area, and she could easily attend one of the most well funded as we are on the border - but i wish for her to be surrounded by many colors, cultures, and economic classes so that she has a real taste of the world - we try to supplement her education here at home, perhaps that is wrong, but I think it is soooo right for then she will not be immune to the workings of the world -

Enjoyed the thoughts this provoked - thank you

Susan

Our silence speaks much louder than our words.
Not all of us are silent though, and we can only hope some are still capable of really listening, hearing, and then acting.
