And even as I demand
"Who are you?"

my own reflection catches me unaware
and I back away
  startled
  wondering

how I could have come this far
without seeing these fatal flaws?
the inherent weaknesses that surfaced daily
for others to see
even as I avoided them
   my own    self?

Pound the keys angrily,
make a lot of nonsense noises of deny,
go ahead
stomp your feet, pretend to cry

but in that dark moment
   called the End
those shadows won’t lie.

This is one of those poems that goes bump in the night. I got an eerie feeling reading your poem, but then again it could have certainly been my own reflection. (Smiles)Enjoyed. -Bob

Amazing this self realization stuff, and darn scary at times I might add.  I think we are in the age group that lends itself well to that very question Kacy.

Thats cool.  Picture and a cool poem together, like saying "Here I am...".  And there are alot of pictures on here but yours seems to have bad quality and I think it did hit me in the solar plexus.  Cool.

Wonderful write.  It sounds like you're on the right path to being who you're meant to be because we can't correct what we cannot see.

Most inspiring scribe...yeah a little personal inventory is good for the soul but like that old ying and yang theory i  believe there's alot of good to be found in that mirror as well as those not as desired qualities.

I am what I am or was or will be or would never be or would like to be
but I'm late for the party and have run, very late, risk being counted out from earthly fun ...hehe

Once again, you reach out to touch feelings that we all have at times...or eternally.  Well done, Kacy.  Ken

some days we like the images, others we just wonder what we see.  Very well done Kacy.  Me, I think you've got a pretty good soul reflecting back at you in your mirror.

You just need to look a wee bit deeper...past all the obfuscating surface flaws

See?

One of the nice things about being you, is that you are you.

You're original, flaws, perfection, everything.

Dont knock it.

Makes me think of a famous poet's line...

"As I ponder, weak and weary"....

Good write Kacy.
