In 1845 there did appear A poem in the New York Evening Mirror A small beginning for this bit of rhyme That would be called the greatest of its time. A bird on pedestal above a door One single word its only stock and store. The Raven was its name, as you well know A gift to us from Edgar Allen Poe. In 1963 a final trod Down roads not taken led the way to God. With no more miles to go before sleep fell The world bid Robert Frost a fond farewell. As Nan said, we've seen this Raven in person, well he was not alive, he was dead, but still, he was there, right in front of us. Yes Deer, get back to writing and get that muse of you going, holidays are over. Take up that pen and write some witty words Your muse will come around when you start first We've been like in a desert full of sand Without your humor we will die of thirst And when you're done, just press the button hard Sending words of wit floating on sky's cloud I know you're filling hearts with joy and such I'll promise that I will not laugh too loud It's been too long, Sir Balladeer, sweet friend Let's hear some laughter in these pages blue And I am sure that Toe and John will reappear When they will spot those nagging words from you A challenge would be very nice I think So write me a poem about a Yankee 'bink' Ha ha, bink is a Dutch word and I won't help you finding out what it means.
