Once upon a morning chill
Before my cup had chance to fill
The sun had yet to appear
But the day break was very near,
And wind was moaning, groaning on my window sill

Across the deep shadows gaze
Dim by nailed window not to raise
Yet come creeping round light
Making all a gray without bright
My place of sleeping, creeping from mares that spill

And thus I made my morning new
Waiting for the push button brew
As demons pounce the shadows
Slivers from beside the windows
Across carpeted flooring, luring off in mindless thrill.

Then I move to fill and drink
Sliding from ponder to think
And prepare for the day to come
Hoping for the beat of a different drum,
But in this silent reality, fantasy it can not kill.

The play of a quiet everyday scene against the deep inward things that are going on during those mundane activities....powerful stuff....I'm thinking that morning cuppa may have been espresso.....
