It came too from the ache
Of ashes where the wings Michael shed
As he fell in his own fire of grief
When the word love became to him more
Than some abstract white entity whom he called father

Adam’s rib broken
Pained even angels who would understand
That to paint such remnants in black-hashed mark
Along the chin was to wear the prints of soul on skin

Still we die
Slow one second passings of life
To thread along the ends of nerve when joined
Along veins of raptures throes
Hands finding the willing hard to meet yielding voids
Till in it all we find some semblance of whole
     That lungs can hold

So we breathe
Slow inhales of the dust still unsettled
And watch for the eyes of Michael’s clan to turn on us
Green
Then exhale our own splintered souls

Waiting
                 To touch once
                                           again

I understand, I truly do. You've captured a reality that is difficult to touch, let alone put a hand around.

I came to read some poems this morning....this is all I need.

I'm at a loss as how to respond.  Very touching.

most times when I read you, I sit afterward, I get lost in my thoughts, and by the end of that moment I have so much in my mind I can't remember what I was going to say in reply.

always awesome poetry from you...always
