in the shadows

Where is your dancing soul
tonight?
Do you care
that I sometimes miss your smiling face
more than I miss a painless breath?
I may lack the warmth
you like,
the warmth you never learned to share,
but the air is sharp
and raw tonight,
and all the music I recall
seems to tell of empty hearts,
of life after a fall from grace.
I don’t begrudge the path you chose,
freedom
also was a siren’s song
for me
when I was young;
in time
you may come to know
there are thorns on any rose.

truth is reality which isn't so bad...just simply realizing, that there are no knights in shining armours and princesses

enjoyed

This is particularly touching...because I've been exactly to the place you speak of here, and back again.

Know this -- dreams do come sometimes when we least expect them, and sometimes they actually do come true....and by that I mean in actuality, not just as a bad check on an overdrawn metaphor. I've been there too.

this reads as though you have seen my own heartach at times .....
your words always move me. Thank you for this...

to be loved - flaws and all - it is our deepest desire - like LeeJ says, no knights, no princessess, but may I inquire as to what we would do without iceboxes?  An absolute necessity

Yes, another good write and one most of us can relate to.  Thank you.  My opinion - we are all knights and pricesses in disguise.  It only takes love to crack through the veneers ... and I'm not saying that love needs to be returned to be effective but it does need to be learnt - a little fairy told me so.

icey,

I have learned that lesson well, myself.  It has caused me to become grateful for what I have in the present so I no longer have to look back and what I HAD.

Missed you.
