Voting In Iraq

I find no comfort
in the thought
that I might get
blown up or shot
were I an Iraqi
dropping my vote
into the ballot slot.

They say that a good
turnout in America
with no such threat
is right around
fifty percent,
while in Iraq
they believe that
the turnout will be
about eighty percent.

I don't know if those
predictions are true
but in this case
it seems like an
absentee ballot
would be the safest
and the wisest
thing to do.

I wouldn't recommend sending voters out there to get killed...
