     Clown

Clowns always
           smile
I mean
           they do,
don’t they?
           All this
that I’ve
           put on,
it makes me
            happy now
all my corners
           turned up,
smile marks drawn
            on both eyes,
it does make me
            all happy now,
doesn’t it?
            Happy? Now?
Not like
           a mime.
They’re mostly
            sad and
silent,
            black white
and no voice
            like an old
movie.
            Much better
to be a clown,
            happy, glib,
big red smile
            so I’m happy.
I mean,
            I am,
aren’t I?
           Nobody cares
if a mime
           cries
or gets trapped
           inside an
invisible box
           with no
way out.
           Maybe I should
have been
            a mime.

Oh, yes... I do. *S* Though I didn't know it in exactly that way until I read this...

You've taken a heartache that was almost made cliche' by the song (though I do love the song "Tears of a Clown" *S*)... and made it so fresh and new the words pierce...

Yes... that's the reason my eyes dampened... pierced. *S*

Nope, don't like clowns either, not after that movie "IT". I was pregnant and had nightmares for weeks.
