This Is The Hour

This is the hour of my need.
Out of all the hours we spend apart
trying to pretend
that distance doesn't matter,
that work and home and wives
are something separate from us,
that the miles and months
only build anticipation,
this is the hour I know the truth.

I need more than daily conversation,
more than long distance pillow talk
that touches my imagination
but not my skin.
I need the simple reassurance
of your hand in mine,
of the promise in your eyes
every time you lean to kiss me.
I need the substance
of sight and smell and touch,
to close my eyes and know you'll be there
when I open them again.
yes, this is the hour of my need.

And this is the hour of my want.
Desire drips like slow, warm rain
across my heart.
I cannot sleep for wanting you,
every inch of me
cries out for your touch.
In fevered dreams
I feel your breath on my neck,
feel you whisper down my spine.
I tremble under tangled sheets
as I strain toward wakefulness and you.
Yes, this is the hour of my want.

There is no question of my need,
all my desire is only for you.
When will you tell me what you need -
when will you know if you want me, too?

Oh my...this is so romantic. The yearning written in these lines takes one aback. Bravo Beki. Whomever this was written for sure is lucky to have one person feel this deeply for them. (Sigh!)

Thank you so much M - it pleases me when my words help others find their own

and E - thank you...I only wish he felt as lucky as others all seem to think he should.

a heartfelt cry from the soul - felt this - may your hour become mere minutes before you are fulfilled -

Wow! you do speak from a place many of us understand.
unfortunately, it's hard to 'love' from the distance, especially if you've never come eye to eye or genital to genital (to be graphic) with the person...so  you learn along the way, most of these 'romances' stay on paper, or once in a while you can
breathe hot lovesongs on the phone to eachoter...just my take
thanks for the smiles; you've done this one well
