Carved Of Stone

Indigenous winds play Picasso with grace
Of brush stroke, etched in shaping face
Fine and tiny line that bring a smile still weak
And into view the curve of dimpled cheek
Poised in artful verve, rounds sight and speak
In gratitude to basin rain, made smooth and chiseled plain
Once numb, yet now warm pulses beat in hum so wearily
The weather turns, each moment yearns, another touch
Another breeze to blow, parting back an ancient glow, defiantly

That once is not enough, the clouds just lightly buff
The images of age, so wise the noble page of written right
And hard the granite core shows through now even more tonight
Until the picture makes attempt; a living through the giving
Of the winds, forgiving sand and simple, damned in Eden’s sins
Yet clear the run of waterfalls, veneer of gold where sunshine stalls
Against the bridge of sense and senses
The heart to mend of all past tenses
And turn into the wind, to float and fly, the blink of eye and me
Spectator in the passages that now should be the stone
Foundations rare the grit that I may walk alone

And when the wind blows cold, I am
And when the night is lonely, I am
And when the sun beats victorious, I am

Holding the absorbing warm of possibility to sustain me
And it is this tear that turns such hard veneer to supple strength
The words are clear
That gems are carved of stone

A meaningful read TD~
The power of your words moved me deeply.
Those so called gems aren't worth much in the end.
