I say it started with a bowl of soup
ended in sleep on the smallest bed
curly haired intruder captured your heart.

you say "poor girl
had nothing to eat
let her take her full
and get to sleep"

I say she hadn't the need to intrude
period of entry was her interlude
she entered an abandoned home,
could have belonged to a forest gnome.

you say "poor girl
she no place to sit
let her pull up a chair
who cares if doesn't fit"!

I say the broken seat wasn't enough
an entry into bear bedrooms
was courageous stuff;
she had to consumate an unofficial invite
today seen as ill mannered and contrite.

you say " there was abundant soup to spare
the smallest chair could be repaired
the sleep on the bed
was a child's act of despair.

It was an early  message on the need to ask
to enter a strange home,
there remains the task....
speak to the person whose hospitality you use
don't leave him with the sense of being abused"!

An interesting write here, Martin.
Are you drawing a parallel to our international scenery?

Hey Nancy

If I dress Goldi in the stars and stripes, you have a point, but I should be careful...
she could just as well be wearing many flag colours including the maple leaf
