Beyond silent stone, they do await,
spectres standing sentinel there,
rolling in slowly with fog over wall and gate,
chill gloom hovering moors desolate and bare.

Dark garbed, bonetted and frail,
weather beaten stones their only witness,
faces luminescent alibaster, deathly pale,
ghostly projections of the past, no hurt now, painless.

Shrouded featureless moors so harsh,
the dreamgrounds of literary genius,
imagaination sparked by pasture, river and marsh,
in this millenium we marvel still and are envious.

Still truth came out with passion real,
their lives pious, saintly good.
Life lived with love and steadfast zeal,
purest of works and beauty rarely understood.

Ah, Wuthering Heights...the Bronte sisters, the moors. Maybe it's time to curl up with a blanket, read this again during the next chilling fog.
Enjoyed this write, it transported me to those mysterious moors.

Yes, The Bronte sisters....by the way I liked the book, just finished it the other night...funny you mention them, one of their poems inspired me.

Thanks for the book!
