Still it's hard to understand
why breathing hurts like Hell.
Why all they have to tell me is,
"There's nothing we can tell."

I wish that "pain" was really
just some stupid metaphor.
And I wish that I was lying down...
not falling on the floor.

Walking shouldn't be like this:
each step a piercing test.
And sitting down hurts far too much
to let my body rest.

Joints and muscles should relax,
not pull and grind and sting.
But everyday it seems I'm pained
by ordinary things.

He was a man of sorrows
...I am a girl of tears.

*hugs* first.   Sometimes I wish there was no such thing as pain.  Only God knows the answer to that one.  Hope you get to feeling better, sweet one.  Your poem is written so well....you keep it up, girl.  That writing may someday make our literary hall of fame, you're a wonderful poet, Alyssa, because you have that ability to reach out and make us feel what you are saying.   .....jo

Dix,
you've been faithful about is since the beginning. Can't even understand how much I appreciate that. Thank you. And love ya, too.

LeeJ,
thanks for your reply. You always see different edges to things which I love hearing about. Very insightful. And thank you for the prayers and hopes... They're quite appreciated. Love ya, too.

Always, Alyssa

Jo,
thank you. You compliment me far too much! I'm just a kid who writes 'cause it's the closest thing to help that there is. And because I get to meet some really awesome people. Someday, I'm sure, God will shed some light on the whole pain thing... Until then, well, at least He's teaching me things. You're always so kind, thank you for that...

mgroves,
Thanks! I could never tire of either! Both seem to be needed lately...

Ser,
hey... not this time... no. But I wish it was, too. That's okay, breathing is overrated anyway lol ...and at least I get to meet some interesting people and doctors because of it. Thanks for the hope though... really.

Goood poem. I like the line where you say you wish that pain was a metaphore. Nice line.
