From worn playground walls
I picked out her name
as the years clicked 25,

She became a blonde,
once sunkissed
now brown again
as mine,

I found her
then lost her
because of
stubborn pride,

but her hand
to behold, she
had forced back
on mine,

So without
faint misgivings,

we raise
our toast
to the gift
of life's turning tides.

yes they turn
again and again
like blondes to browns
and browns to blond
but the beaches of rockaway still remain

so just sit back, hit your little white ball, enjoy your florida sunshine and laugh at us shoveling what you left behind, this morning
thanks

Men feel too. We try so hard to hide it, but really we only end up looking silly when we try....though heaven help us if we ever admit that we know it!

Poignant and cleanly written...I like this.

Pride is a double edged sword, to defend with all our might,
and yet so often our worst enemy.

Loved the happy ending, bklynboy~
