Loved that fever of a night
unwound from the grasp of uptight
the mercury in the glass rose loyally
time was ripe
to measure corporal heat
the heat of the moment


But periods pass
mercury registration's cast
at odds with room ambience
a defence against a common cold
Aha, but you were out Saturday night
for the love of fever
into the early morning glow
