Remember

Remember gentle breezes of summer
which would caress us into lazy days
and the touch of sun that left us calmer
as we basked daily in its warming rays

Remember lying down on cool green grass
watching puffy white clouds as they drifted by
turning to visions our dreams could express
of fae folk with wings of a butterfly

Remember there by the babbling brook
soothing the soul the magic of its song
smoothing each rock along the path it took
and voicing its thoughts as it moved along

Remember the days that stretched into night
blanketing stars filling ebony sky
gazing in wonder at the daunting sight
to wish upon a bright star streaking by

Remember sights and sounds filling our ears
when morning begins with voices of birds
as the warmth of the sun takes away fears
and crickets sing lullabies without words

Remember those days are not far away
as you look out on the cold and the gloom
and see those icicles aren’t here to stay
the breeze will come soon with summers perfume

Yes, I do remember. And I also know that with the melting of winter's icicles, warm  spring breezes have breathed life into my being year after year.

Lovely writing, starry poetess!

Karen, I absolutely love this. I was going to put down
my favorite part, but would have done the whole poem.
I couldn't pick out a favorite. It's so beautiful the
way every other line rhymes. Thank you for sharing.
Hugs,
Ethel
