The air is cold
and the field outside
a blank white

around which leafless branches
create a context
for what isn’t there

so that if one wanders
with his eyes
he might well ponder
what he doesn’t see

if he thinks at all—
a silent absence in his being
finding kinship with the view

Air totally cold
Four degrees grasping one's lungs
Words written with breath

But a smile will crack our lips
Seasons are temporary

i love this poem, it reminds me of wisconsin in the winter,
it's beautiful and distilled.

remember the black sky nights
kindly,
