Sunset

I’m looking out upon the line
that open sky and earth defines
and here acknowledge all that’s mine
as very very small
for sky above is so immense
and earth below so vast and dense
that hardly have I some pretense
of who I am at all
the colors of humanity
the craziness, the sanity
the brilliance of the world I see
contained within these walls
where sky above meets earth below
to form a line whence all I’ve known
has somehow paled within the show
that keeps me awe enthralled
‘til darkness once more falls.

A perfect, very beautiful example of how we always feel deep awe when we surrender to contemplation.

Thank you for this beauty, dear Bob!

Earth Angel,

The talent here sure is amazing to me. I love the little clip art. (Smiles) I was certainly hoping that you would come upon this poem as I have enjoyed reading your poetry about the cosmos as well and I knew (I knew) that you would be touched by this one. Thank you for reading me again. -Bob

Ethel,

I do enjoy reading poetry out loud also. I certainly am not a speed reader. (Smiles) I enjoy words to much to pass any of them by quickly. Also, I'm glad that you noticed the rhyme theme here. It was one in which I was very comfortable writing. This poem seemed to flow very very easily for me. I guess it was one of those poems that was just waiting to be written. (Smiles) Thanks again for your kind response. -Bob

Alyssa, (God's Girl)

I do enjoy watching sunsets as well, but then again how can one not watch a sunset when it's so spread out across the sky with its wondrous color, beauty, and splendor. Though, now thinking about your comment, I do believe the beauty that we see through our mind's eyes certainly comes from the beautiful beautiful images that God has so allowed each one of us and I am so happy that somehow my words have inspired those beautiful images to come to the forefront of your thinking. That is such a Great compliment. Thank you. -Bob

I think, again, you found a trait of mine here. I do love to contemplate and I do think your analysis of this poem is very correct. This was a time of contemplation for me as I thought about how small I am and how truly very small all humanity is that we for the most part exist on a small plane or space between heaven and earth and that space becomes ever smaller as you look at it as a simple line in the far far horizon. Contemplation. Yes, again, you discovered the best of me. -Bob

Dark Angel,

You have given me quite a compliment here, my poetess friend, with your response and, yes, I do enjoy writing with rhyme and meter, some times, but I also soooo enjoy your unique style very very much and I do wish that I could write with the Passion, the Powerful Powerful Impact, and the Expression that you write poetry with as well, but we are all quite different and we are all very very unique and I do believe that is one aspect that makes reading poetry so interesting and exciting. Thanks again, for your very kind compliment. -Bob

Thank you so much for reading my poem and I want to say that it was your poem in Spiritual titled The Spark that got me to thinking about the line between the night and the day and inspired me to write this poem and I think I know what you mean here when you write and before we know it a new day. It's most exciting for me to think about who certainly holds our tomorrow. Again, thank you for sharing and for being an inspiration.  -Bob

Mysteria,

You never fail to out do yourself here. This picture is absolutely Gorgeous and compliments this poem I think perfectly. I love that you included a Lighthouse here. Also, I did have a chance to look at the poetry that you formatted for me with the pictures included. WOW!!! They are both Fantastic!!! I've got to get some color ink in my printer so that I can print them out and put them both up on my wall. You are soooo talented in so many many ways that I can't begin to list them all for lack of space and time, but I do Thank you. Thank You. Thank You. -Bob

When witnessing such awesome creativity as found within a sunset, how true your statement certainly is, yes, truly there must be a most creative and much much more powerful force far far above and beyomd our limited human abilities and wisdom. Thank you for bringing that point out and also thank you for visiting and for reading my poetry. -Bob
