Don’t let the Embers Burn Out…

And so the horridscopery
of my very own periphery
trusted me into my day

and I thought
no, this is not me, this is
just a fallacy, for no one would treat me
this way…

but someone wants to blow and blow
and let the me of me let go
to find a wind that takes my sin
and all of me away…

but I am here to stay…

or so my horridscope doth say…

be the strongest dynamo
and so I work and so I grow
and life is worth it, tell me so,
and if it ain’t,
then I don’t want to know…

But if I were to take and cut
a simple word from hence the nut
don’t let the embers burn…

How dis-enchanted I might be
and how stilled the loose might be
how placid then my life would be…

should I not let the embers burn…

but OUT it said, so I put it in
and let my emotions take a spin
to keep the flames red hot and then,
I shall blow on them again…

not a harsher type of blow,
but one of heat from one that knows
that gentle gets one all the best…
this is how I’ve passed the tests…

so see the embers glow so bright
and twigs to enhance a moonlit night
albeit the snow is blowing
and cold skies are gray
I must keep the embers, must keep them
more, just one more day…

….the ancient man he held a trick
of taking fire from stick to stick and
walking earth with embers, warm…
the ancient man…
did his mind swarm

with all the things we think we need
when hearth and fire and food
is seed for all that might hold on to life…

yet he took to him an engaging wife…
no need for ceremony, “you are mine” in
signals sans any pantomime
and thus it began, simple, and clear,
no need of horridscopes, my dear…

just a signal, and passing of trust,
a bit of wrapped embers that must
be carried on, from life,

to life…

do not let the fire go out…

do not let the embers burn out…

keep the faith
in all that be…
no matter the horoscope
for you, or me.

P.S...if anyone thought this was too long...blame serenity...she got me going....

and thank you very much for getting to this very last line...

Oh shure...blame your ability to enchant us at length on someone else.  I don't think so!  This is an especially telling write.  Ken

It was quite an amusing and inspiring trip from first to last - and I love the description of horridscope -

Enjoyed this -  Susan

The length was in perfect harmony with the message you conveyed ...

do not let the embers burn out

No, I won't.
Very captivating.

Oh!
Oh!
Oh!

I've read this poem three or four times since it was posted, and it took me this long to realize what was in that picture.....

I say again: Oh!
