In New Zealand Amongst the Ancient Trees

Images surreal
is the nightly fare
from cold cathodes glare
and the mind reels
then switches to recall
re-running old film
till the new and the old
exchange and interfold.
Images past
long kept behind locked doors
stumble through the cracks,
on viewing the growing stacks.
Bringing flashbacks to killing fields
where acres laid
two upon ten deep,
that was then, and now.
Fast forward to a sea of death,
then rewinding to desert trenches
where children are packed
and covered with caterpillar tracks.
The smell is all the same you know.
Emotions long behind a wall, unleash,
no longer held back,
I weep for the now
and what I didn’t then.
Perhaps tomorrow, emerging,
will be a human being
with feeling.

Apologies, would have replied sooner but have taken a few days out to slip the mind and obtain a new view. In this small piece of paradise, with no phones, no tv, and only one or two people it is easy to do. Just sand, sea, and hills to wander free.

Thank you all for taking the time to peruse my ramblings.
