(Happy New Year, everyone!

I thought I'd start out the New Year with a bang! )

Pink spiders blitz across your balustrade,
malversation is in session in your brain,
ashes in your hair reveal its natural color,
the sweat doesn't lie, the salt is screaming,
there goes another crusade of raillery,
it left us expressing nothing,
I was there, but where was me?
Twenty seconds later we realized
we made mole hills out of mountains,
college students stuck in this cultural knife fight,
with badminton racquets...

School kids keep learning from their textbooks,
teaching us the difference between liberty and weaponry,
and we patent them like these blank exsanguinous looks,
cuz, see, we're not convinced the military industry mystery,
is really a mystery,
and I've found myself become transfixed with nature,
they continue to outlaw cannabis, but I'm constantly reassured,
their right to nurture nature is all a lie,
I rest the loins of my fruit in the understory of the enterprise...

"Evolution ever climbing after some ideal good,
reversion ever dragging Evolution in the mud."
I want to see beyond the crash course,
I'm only trying to evolve,
no fundamentalist can analyze this stridulatiom,
that is rasping between my voice,
I want to see beyond the war machine,
I only want to evolve...

Children before the circumstance,
often forget our bodies are more than flesh and sclerite,
the prerogative becomes gunning for high score,
new games get lost in the shuffle,
and they say we're always welcome to adopt a voice,
but I say I like the sound of my own voice,
while I'm aware I'm challenging ghosts,
the gainsayer's wet dream,
of hate to say I told you so,
oh oh oh...

"Evolution ever climbing after some ideal good,
reversion ever dragging Evolution in the mud."
I want to see beyond the crash course,
I'm only trying to evolve,
no fundamentalist can analyze this stridulatiom,
that is rasping between my voice,
I want to see beyond the war machine,
I only want to evolve...

everyone's here, is everyone here,
looks like we've got everyone here,
well, now, that's everyone here,
first things first,
"where do we go from here?"

"Evolution ever climbing after some ideal good,
reversion ever dragging Evolution in the mud."
I want to see beyond the crash course,
I'm only trying to evolve,

that is rasping between my voice,
I want to see beyond the war machine,
I only want to evolve...
.

.
Seems now I've got much more to do,
when there's barely anything to prove,
and when all of this is through,
where will I find you in this milieu?
.
.
.
I only want to evolve...
.
.
.
I'm just trying to evolve...

and oh Noah, sweetie, you are evolving so quickly my friend.

This reads like lyric to me, and I find myself envious of your passion.

Happy New Year, sweet Noah.

I'd like to see beyond that war machine myself
to an evolved world where war is no longer

the first step

Happy New Year Noah

Noah, something akin to what Serenity said,
you are evolving too quickly...

but we welcome your adulthood,
and know you will keep the dreams alive
of the children that are to come.

Only very certain, special people
know how to do that, and their names are
usually captured as "teacher".

Thank you all for your wonderful comments.

This poem really isn't about desiring evolving in a growth sense, like some kid who sometimes is curious what it's like growing up and wanting to flash-forward.

It's rather about the desire to evolve beyond this social mess we're in. Where 63% of what is played in our media is recycled stories, and it feels all the talk of "weapons of mass destruction", Scott Peterson, Michael Jackson, The Bachelor, will never end. It feels we're all being brought on by arrested development in my mind, and sometimes I feel like a moth, continuing to bash my exoskeleton against the artificial screen, saying, "Let me evolve beyond this!"

Then, of course, sadly, in my opinion, it seems wars are only repeating themselves, so though the poem is not a protest poem, it does hint out the obsession with violence in this culture.

Thanks everyone!

Sincerely,
Noah Eaton
