Now I know I begged for stale food
Now I know I played with friends for their tea
Now I know why the gutter was my friend
Now I know, I was me
Now I know my playground
Now I know the lorries there
Now I know why no home
Called me until it thought it should care
Now I know what was hunger
Now I know what was boredom
Now I know why I hate the rain
Now I know why we stole the toys
Now I know why we lived
Now I know why my brother cant
Now I know why my mother
Is frightened of my brother
And they both drank to recant
We somehow with luck progressed
My brother now a hopeless injured drunk
My mother in a secure home
And myself still trying to know my life
Now I know what tears mean
Now I know what fear means
Now I have no more excuses
I remember and know me
And with me I must live

Dave, with age comes wisdom so some say.
We only lived what we were taught. Now, we can teach ourselves anew. Indeed we can.
Have a wonderful New Year. I don't always comment on your writings, but I do read them. You write what you truly feel and I commend you for this. hugs, Chris

And in knowing, you are already
better on the odds...

Happy New Year, Dave!

Another part of my life

Circle Trust in South London and Camberwell Green

I want at this point to pay something I never had the chance to say to Peter Dickinson.

Thanks for everything you did Peter.

Gunter and I raised the cash but without you we wouldn't have had the chance.

Dave

Screw up

Dave Ward and backers was Camberwell

Peter Dickinson was Notting Hill and Gunter was a Senior Probation Officer from Notting Hill.

People are live today because of what happened in a meeting in Camberwell and alive today for Peter's efforts in Notting Hill Gate.

This poem makes one think about many things.  Now I  find myself reflecting on many events in my life tonight, trying to see the me in them and make sense of it all.  Happy New Year, Dave.
