Haven't they told you
it was time to go?

do you stall your passing
on the morrow's hold,
crumbling on your brass trellis
in ragshop penny clothes,

and the albino sky
jumping over
your late december awning;

haven't they told you
it was time to go?

You know....it wasn't until the snow first fell this season that the last of our maple tree's leaves gave up the ghost as they say. It's sad somehow isn't it? Enjoyed this.

Yet they tend to linger in hope, don't they.  I shall greet the youth of Spring when they present their birthing - and watch the cycle repeat -

Enjoyed this -

I've an oak tree that drops about two gazillion leaves every year.  Today I checked and there's still a few to fall.
Thanks, Michelle.  Ken

Here in Houston, we only have a few trees that shed their leaves.  With the snow this year, some have actually changed color and are falling off now.  This was such a pretty poem, Michele.  A good frost will make them drop, I suppose!  Wishing you warm weather and green growth in the new year!   ....jo
