*

A mother’s heart torn apart.

She will never forget… nor will her son.

In sheer consternation,

overwhelmed by the wave,

she let him glide

into the water, dark and wild.

She knew she could not make it

with both her children

clinging to her neck …

She was breaking down.

She let him slip from her arm

into the roaring mass…

Her heart cried out to heaven

no sound came over her lips,

just tears streamed down her face.

With both her arms now

firmly around her younger child

she fought her way to safe ground.

Cold and numb she stared

into the void of despair.

Hours passed, she hardly breathed.

No one knows but an Angel,

how the child she had sacrificed

suddenly reappeared

and cried and cried

searching her eyes …

“Why Mommy, why

did you let me die?”

When will those tears dry?

“Mommy why, Mommy why?”

he cries and cries …

Only an Angel knows.

She will never forget …. nor will her son.

Thank you my friends for coming in here to read. I know this is a sad story, though it has a happy end.
I was just so enormously impressed by this report on tv. That little boy's eyes ... his sobs, it was haunting.

May all the Angels be on duty!

Love and Happy New Year! Despite all the dramatic events we must keep a trusting attitude and act for the good of all.

I do hope this tragedy will unite people from all over the world to reach out to those in need and I hope this will enhance the process of peace everywhere.

Love, Margherita

Margherita, I heard about this on the news today.  You capture the emotion so well.  What a tragedy the world is in, but I was glad to hear both sons survived.  What a difficult, difficult situation and one mothers should never have to face.   ....jo

Margherita, I barely took a breath as I read your soul-grabbing words. You write with such empathy and grace. A very moving story that fortunately had a happy ending. Oh, how I pray for more of them...

Margherita,

Glad you posted this.  I agree with iliana-a decision no mother should have to make.  I'm glad to know of the happy ending.
You write with so much sensitivity and compassion.

I read the article and it's heart wrenching to even think of the painful decision she was faced with.  My eyes teared up when I read that her family was reunited, but the reality of it all is haunting.

Great write, Margherita~
