I Care

Your silence is so deafening loud
Even when I’m there
Yet never hearing you again
Is more than I can bear.

You look at me through seeing eyes
As if I wasn’t there
Yet never seeing you again
I still must learn to bear.

You walk beside me by yourself
Knowing that I’m there,
Yet the thought of being alone
I simply could not bear.

And when I turn my back on you
With the knife you buried there
You'll rub the salt on open wounds...
Tell me you don't care.

And that is a cold hard truth, but there's nothing left to do but keep walking.

Be well, fellow poet~
