Adieu, Susan Sontag
I greatly admired you.

You had the intestinal fortitude
(few seem to posess this attribute today)
to speak the truth as you saw it
whether it was popular or not.

And each time you wrote
or spoke out,
the bells of reality rang true.

So with these few words,
I wish to honor your memory.
I wish to remember how often
truth became you.
Some called you traitor
for your unwillingness to gloss over
some of September's truths.
You stood firm, if not dismayed,
by the phrases hurled at you
for pointing out the discrepancies
between perceptions of character and deeds.

And even if I take some flack for honoring you,
it is a small thing compared
to what you encountered,
for truth's sake.

Namaste, RIP
Susan Sontag

few seem to possess this attribute today...

~*~

She was a lone star in the night,
and will now remain ever so.

They call them, "one of a kind..."

And indeed, your tribute speaks
to that part of her soul.

Thank you, Kacy.

Well said, Kacy.  She was indeed a remarkable woman, striding the stage of life where many wouldn't even have her in the theater.  Good job!  Ken
