It was a break-wing sigh
That escaped my lips to the stares
Of quizzical companions who had no idea
I had just felt you descend into another hell
Of pounded flesh used to the edge of black
And tossed aside as easily as yesterday’s wrappings
To burn in many colored flames
As the consumption of wrinkled dyes
Began in earnest desire to see what indeed
Was the peak of passion’s fall

And how could it be
You might have it all
If for only a few fleeting seconds before grim hands
Either clasped you to his cold breast or shoved you back
With a laugh that next time
Next time perhaps
As he ran down your thighs you might not open your eyes

I simply smiled at those around me
And made a witty remark about the way holiday’s
Were sometimes hard

Though it was lost on them
The irony and the underlying thin lines of truth
About how it was to burn brighter when alone
Yet feel whole at the edges of an abyss
Unexplained certainty denies

“ toast then….”
I said

“To Peace on earth”

then mumbled

“and in my head”

In the movie "Jerry Maguire", one character says to the other "You had me with hello." Here, you had me with the title... and you didn't lose a thing.

This... *sigh*...

My heart isn't very coherent when it's touched deeply. *S*

A very "feeling" write, Capt. Ron.
I loved it.

When you dive as well as swim, you go deep.

This is excellent....rending, but excellent.

Yeah....I use the colored paper to start the woodstove too.

Feeling this, or something very much like it, right along with you friend.

A better year ahead(?)
