Does It Not Hurt?

china cups hold tear drops afraid to cry
and does it not hurt because you say so
try crawling inside me there is room
for…
you are the one that makes me feel so small
thin shadow made by a greater boundary
a silhouette made against the measure of light
all can change at the length of an eyelash
how can something so full end up so empty
cuts made pasted of a negative on a positive
grey is the line between black and white
a place cast of me traced from an illusion

just some words cut out
from the diary of my heart

Ah, would that it could not hurt just because . . . very thoughtful and emotive piece here-

Ow, this hurts to read....hurts good, to someone who likes quality in poetry, but the other kind to someone who doesn't like to see friends having heartaches. I think I understand more than you've said here -- and that adds an extra level of that "other kind" for me, as it should for any who think of themselves as your friend.

some fantastic lines, my favorites are the 1st about the china cup tears and the one about the eyelash length

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

Wonderful poem, Helen. And yes, it does hurt.
