The reason for the season,
Seems to somehow slip my mind.
And things which seemed important,
Long ago were left behind.

Such as love, and warmth, and friendship...
Those are just a fading dream.
And things you think are perfect,
Are so seldom as they seem.

On the wrong side now of fifty-
I can't help but sit and ponder,
All those foolish, rash decisions,
When, as a youth, I chose to wander.

The ranches and arenas-
Were the lure which drew me then...
Now I'd give a lot of freedom,
For someone to call my friend.

Freedom? Please define it...
Is it "nothing left to lose?"
Is it choices made too hastily?
When a man's too young to choose?

Is it Arizona mornings-
As the sun lightens the east...
And you cinch your saddle tightly,
On a green, unbroken beast?

Is it evenings in the bunkhouse-
When a group of lonely men...
Trying hard to hide their sadness,
With the windys that they spin?

Or is it like this life of mine,
The only one I've known...
Sitting, wondering how it happened-
How life left me all alone.

Ah cowboy friend of mine, I too am on "that" side of fifty and I'll tell ya .... ya can't go back .... but you can still move on. It's never too late to find someone if you really want to. You have a kind heart and that in itself would be a blessed gift to any lady. Holiday Hugs, Chris

I'll tell ya it's never too late to find that lucky lady!
And lucky she would be to find you too.
Have a Merry Christmas my friend.
