thinking back to indigo
and emeralds
did rincon even know
you were wearing those shoes
when you fed my hands

convertables are for lovers
at night under palms
if you go all the way
down to the end
and listen to the surf songs

on some hidden cove radio
made out of sand
and old blankets
without names or memories
that anyone can wear later

do you still wonder at times
about the rent a cloud guy
what he thought about
when he saw our footprints
on the bottom of his sky

with heartbeat stuff that used to run miles

like a nude indian

to break the tip on his flesh arrow

turning beach stones

into emeralds

with their surf songs

as the rent a cloud guy

stepped aside

long enough to let

the sun kiss her mouth too.
