The Bell Buoy

The desk stood with the strict simplicity
of specific purpose. Singularly located
it afforded the writer a choice of views.
Foremost, this Christmas Eve,
the hearth asserted its domestic precedence.
His eyes eased, banking with the embers.
Family was due to arrive momentarily
and so he enjoyed one, last opportunity
to watch the bay. Faintly,
the bell buoy carried.
He closed his eyes and imagined the swell
curving the length of a lovely clipper
deeply filled with spice and mail.

You set a lovely picture
but hone tight a far-away sound...

ooh, a lovely, peaceful interlude before the cacophony of joyous family play

Good to read you again!!!
