The wind howls, not moans,
A rasping breath felt deep in the bones,
Pulling the moisture out in ice bits
Till I wake for longing of a wetting sip,
Too early, too early in waking,
Before alarm, before sun breaking,
From the warmth I dare to slip
Cold racing up from toe to hip
Winter has set into my wall’s stones
Rattling the panes with shrieking tones.

This first of snow in the wind blow, harsh and frigid, the world gone ridged,
My red dry eyes watches as flakes flies, but snow is slight, dusting of white,
Blotting last green, the year that’s been no longer seen as the autumn ends.

Slow steeping of tea,
Moist aroma wakes my nose,
Warms the inner me.

Water boils
On the stove uselessly there,
In dryness
In dimness,
Steam rising into the air,
A rapture
Of moisture,
Adds more than my fragrant tea
Hopes to share
To dry air,
There later where soup will be,
Water boils
In labored hydrating toils.

The day lays before,
Shall I greet its cold being,
Or sleep it once more.

I’ve really no place to go
And could have stood deeper snow,
But now I’m awake
And will watch day break
And the icy winds that blow.

ohhhh...Gloomy One, I felt it!

I hope the tea warmed you.
