Names
alone
are similar
one name alone
is not a threat
one death does not
amount
as much
as hundreds
thousands
multiplied
in the vast expanse of black
side by side
a dignity
names
alone
they don't mean much
but tally ye the score of them
and run your fingers red...

go ahead
try to count
and tell me then
I dance on grave...

Names alone don't mean a thing.

Together?

They are monument.

(in loving memory of all of my departed loved ones, and yes, I want one more person to tell me I can't express that loss. )

This is absolutely powerfully and beautifully expressed!

I believe they all dance with you ... we use the word "loss", but we can't really loose them, they just move on ... to live on. But on this plane their departure hurts and how! I know.

Thank you for this amazing "Monument".

Love and hugs.

The real power here is that despite what anyone else tells you, you are true to yourself.
Excellent write.

alone, together...each one has meaning and the loss never goes away, just gets easier to smile through the tears.

Boy, can I relate to THAT!

Dance away, little girl...
and don't mind me if I join you...
both in the loss, and the celebration
of lives lived...

In a way it feels as if I've come in at the middle of the flick, but---this is what your words say to me, we are the sum of our ancestors, their hopes, strengths, stories--and the lineage is a continum as long as one remains to honor those who've lived! I'm bowing at your monument! Wow!

Serenity...I just knew by the title and the fact that you wrote it that I was in for something special.
You really know how too grab me by the heart and touch me deeply.

You gave me the fire too write one similar
" Valley of Stone"

Thanks for sharing...Paul

Last month, I visited Washington DC for the first time... I was at a loss for words in front of the wall... but here... you've written them for me.

You've also written the past year with all my personal losses... each one hurts... but when one follows another all too rapidly... they devastate.

My sincere thanks to you and your pen... for finding the words. *S* This one's into the library. *S*

Thanks all, for your kindness and emotional support. Sadly, it seems to be those who know who understand.

Now. (exhale)

I've gotten that off of my chest, I'd like to offer my condolences to my friends who are also mourning during the holidays, and a promise to myself and to you all, that this year, I will find a way to celebrate life.

Ruth, Maureen, Martie, Kari, you're in my thoughts and prayers this holiday season, as are you all. (And special thanks to bri, Cpat, my sweet Maree and Janet Marie for holding my hand.)

Happy Holidays good poet people.
