He dealt and I received
one to make me dream
of a snowflake fall in Africa
and I touched on the delicate
oh, so tenderly.

Play, play on, love will come
but snow simply melts
in the hands of time
and I should have known,
I’ve lived all my life to know
it never snows in Africa.

Here the sun, year-round sun,
and the harsh reality
of crime, disease, and poverty,
and that’s enough to know
dreams can’t come true
in Africa.

Run, run, run away,
melt into the sands
of Africa, my land,
and I listen every day
to what the people say.

I find I need to do that
to over ride belief
of a snowflake fall in Africa
and of dreams becoming real.

I’m a product of South Africa
raised in the midday sun;
what do I know of snowflakes
and of icicles?

But the silent hand of time
tutors well the student, me,
until I know and understand
a heart can freeze in summer heat
and a snowflake
like the touch of love
melts before the fall
in Africa, South Africa,
where no corner heralds more!

Thanks a lot for reading, Snowflake from Hell.  Hmm?  Makes me think that maybe that's what falls over Africa - no aspersions being cast on your handle, of course.
Happy holidays!

Melissa, snow falls everywhere above us, ice crystals in the atmosphere, a certain layer so much colder than the one below it

it never snows in Florida either, but at least we have humidity and when the dew freezes, it looks like melting snow

Helen

My mother used to say to me, "never say never".  So, it did snow once in Southern California, when I was 4.  It even stayed on the ground long enough for me to make a snowman!  It was lovely fun for the girl in me.

I enjoyed this...because it told me so much about Africa, but more about you...I think even if it did snow there, your warm heart would melt it before it ever hit the ground.
