The Warming by Degrees of Fishing

The sun measures me
each inch is yellow then green
the sound is like rain
as the ducks give water wing

I see his shoulders slumped there
over the wiggling body of a worm
he struggles with this and gentles the hurt of hand
for he’s catching the wonder of living again

Close your pale eyes   I think to him
from my own harbor of lost youth
let water’s gentle lapping
be the sound of truth

your perspective amazes me, Martie.

I have always wondered what it was like
for them on the other end of the line.

for he’s catching the wonder of living again

truly . . .

Two in a day, and each one better than the other.....Impossible? Nope, not when Martie's the one who wrote them.

Your sight and your insight....each a thing of beauty. You ARE poetry.

Dear Martie, I actually shivered in emotion while reading these last two lines.

Wonderful poem!

Love and hugs.
