I am made of leaves
brittle and curled brown and gold
the wind    the wind    is my lover
he dances with me
he even says that I am as graceful as the tree

Love sees this way
even knowing the worst of the falling of time
spring gurgles   and takes the corner to ground with give
where the tree the branch the leaf still live

I fall beneath my own steps
hear my song on the path that I am building
the front of my house is made from my color
each tooth chipped as time walks along with a rake
as the wind whispers   “it does not matter      feel me I am warm
and my truth touches you and folds you
even holds you as the sun would a ripening flower.”

Today his hands are warm its true
he moves across me from the north
his destination is my spirit's spring
(last night his soft howl took me rumpled
and I dreamed his mouth was the sweetest nectar
of air just after a rain
I felt where he was hurt by slivered moon
and healed by stars that never parted   from June)

You are made of leaves, if leaves are made of crystal and spun glass....that's what your unique view of the world brings to everything you write. The dullest subject seems to bloom when you touch it....wind, you made this out of wind!

Martie - the wind carries your soul across the miles like it does a fallen leaf.  How beautiful and talented it is.

Dang, I wish I could write like you Martie.
this is exquisite, and I could hear the rustling of autumn leaves as I read.

I read this right after responding to my "pledge" and couldn't help comparing... I may write of leaves but could never be such... no grace for this gal! *S*

You write his touch so beautifully it's felt even in the stillness... lovely! *S*

It is lines like these that keep me coming back to your poems. Your truth touches me.

the things you do with the wind
makes me want to be
at least part wind
and part sea

I don't wish I could write like you anymore because there could absolutely never be another you, never so I don't wish, just enjoy.  Reading you is like feeling wrapped in a cashmere blankie already pre-warmed, yes that is what it feels like to me.

Applause!
A very moving write..You know that I can feel the emotions of the leaves, and know they have ways of communication that not many people understand...you are one that does, and we readers are blessed...
Thank you for this poem, Martie, and while I am at it, thanks for all of your poems...I count them as blessings...
