calamity...
in denim torn
from wear just like the
flannel worn too
often...
softening the
threads of
time and
hollow hearts...

and no...

she wasn't 'cool' at all
a joke at school
a flower's
wall of sacrifice
she felt the
harsh of
childish games
and names with
blades

her silver buckle
played the
light of
dreams within her
solitude... and
leathered in the
fringe of her
she found a
better place...

to face...

Calamity in denim...

worn...

Wow,
not sure what the challenge was
or what the inspiration for this was...
but I thank whatever and whoever had any part in it.
Very good stuff here.
Great imagery,
Great form.
Goes to my library.

Well now, that was sure some write, and an all too familiar one to a lot of kids in school really that I hope don't ever have to write about how hurt they were.

You don't post often enough for sure.

Vicky, this is a wonderful write....
as all of yours are. While I was reading,
I was thinking the same as Sharon wrote in
her reply. There are so many children in
school who are made fun of for so many
different reasons. Children (as well as
grown-ups) can be cruel when they want
to be.....sometimes without even realizing it, I think.

Well, sweet lady, I didn't mean to write a book.
You just always make me start thinking. You
can write what you think as well as anyone
I've ever read before.

By the way, I miss our chat's too.
Heart Hugs,

Vicky

It is so good to see you posting!!  Youth is such a cruel time....or can be.  This portrait is very touching to me.  I love flannel!

Vic,  well said, indeed
I can surely relate, that

Well - This gem is surely making a hit.. Whatever the challenge was indeed.  I think you met it in style.  This is a work that stands in its own right, with or without the inspiration behind it...
