Between the strands of reality
flies the spirit of Will-o’-the-Wisp
intent on colliding somewhere in air
with the bearer of hidden desires.

Flighty and fancy he moves on a breath
in/out slowly severing ties
till worth is dispensed along the unseen
but ever present connecting grid lines.

Unable to bear within the air
the feel of dishonesty
stars depart and abandon the moon
to the fearful shadows of night.

Moon cries and bemoans her fate in the sky,
changes form to suit the occasion,
and promises all if only to be
reunited with her inner self.

In the dark unable to see
he calls on me to satisfy needs
but then tomorrow takes to the sky
for a similar and equally invasive
sojourn with the jilted moon.

And dear little Will-o’-the-Wisp
dressed for best in tempting allure
smiles the sweet smile of the one who knows
he dishonours the power of mind.

Still like a wandering tinker man
he travels the path of grid lines
in/out blowing his coldness of soul
on the eternal and ever burning
unconditional flames of love.

Will-o’-the-Wisp, amazing is he
born to be free and forever believe
he alone can over-ride fate
and settle his mind wherever he likes
in attempts to cheat destiny.

Beware the air for there too resides
the power of one or the many
able to cut willy-nilly the lines
and send Will-o’-the-Wisp to the floor.

Such are the days of Will-o’-the-Wisp
when afraid to enter the night
and fight to the death the monster within
for the prize of eternal life.

There are eyes in the sky calling him nigh
and a pearl in the sea for him
but I picked it up in the flow to his soul
and embedded it into my heart.

Fly like a bird into the sky,
my dear little Will-o’-the-Wisp,
but the pearl you will never retrieve
until you’re in need of the value in me!

Thank you, Eric.  If gifted I perhaps could have said it all in a few lines but this is me for better or for worse.
