gin
mothers ruin
the original sin
best drunk
from the lid
of a boot polish tin
a twist of lemon
an olive or two
gently swirled
not shaken
its good for you
tonight
I indulge
a habit or two
to hell
with the red
it sends
me abed
as for
the white
its turned to vinegar
these past
hundred nights
but gin
the original
preservative
makes life bearable
imbues a will
to live
the day after
never to be repeated agin

Gin is for the young, wine is for the fun, but love stays good forever in the crystal glass of time.
