Chestnuts roasting on an open ---
Great Scott!  They’ve caught fire
Watch those Nuts man!
See the flames burst-
OMG – there goes the pear tree
And the partridge
Roast bird anyone?
And this was to be a silent night
It’s a holy fright!
I hear the bells
The silver bells ringing
It’s the fire trucks screaming
Racin’ through this winter wonderland
Shoot! They just ran down frosty the snow man
Whew!
Joy to the world
They’ve made it in one piece
Now they’re rockin’ ‘round the crispy tree
And it will be a happy holiday
No more tanenbaums will be fallin’ down
And the herald angles will sing
Glory to the Fireman’s zing
Let there be peace on earth
But let’s eat some of that crispy bird first!

Just a bit of holiday humor

Absolutely brilliant.

It is also an old English joke, when someone said "'my whatever sport' ball is hot" and someone close to him, said "well don't stand so close to the fire".

The words said were actually slightly different but I have translated.

I love this.

Smiling - thanks all for sharing my holiday cheer - 'twas a morning of Broadway show Carols in the office and if you're going to spend the morning in Christmas Hell, might as well roast some nuts!

Hugs - Susan

lol this is great!
Good to have some humor
for a holiday that gets so busy
and can often be fillied with such sorrow.

ROFLMAO! Love it...love it...love it! You just made my day Susan. I have to go do some Christmas shopping and I will be thinking about this poem while doing it...so if anyone sees a man standing in the middle of the mall...giggling at nothing. Just ignore it. It's just me remembering this poem. (snicker!)

Remember, if you're not part of the future, you're history!

Very playful, indeed! Gotta get an angle on those angels, though.

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

It is so apparent that there is another
person hidden within the body of this petite and pristine woman child...One that
writes laughter and weilds a sword so very
well...hmmmmm,  gotta watch out for her...

Ah Barry - there are many sides to the woman-as I am certain there are to the man -

Thanks dear -
