poetic laryngitis
cat’s got my tongue
the tongue in my shoes
is licking my toes
adjectives flow
from my mind
paint pictures of time
passing
research my poetry?
find my style;
find my voice
what a choice!

How can I spend
the hours it would take
to wade through all that I’ve written
the water’s too deep
I’d drown
the water’s too murky
I’m a clown
when it comes to finding me
there
in the lines
on the pages
or in between the ages
the stages
of life’s passing
life’s treasures

the locks are broken
the gems are spilled–
a crumbled mass
barely identifiable...if at all

I rhyme
I riddle
I reason
the seasons of life
both flora, fauna
and the inhumane of human

mostly, I hope,
I try to find the joy,
the beauty,
the true treasure
of creation
and the love that holds it together
sometimes

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.
