Unquenchable Lust

How many times I’ve wished on them
As they dotted my sky with “I”,
Writing thoughts, stirring questions
Feeling disappointed, then I'd sigh.

Seems I always end up in the same dark wood
Misted, alone, some point of no return,
Where misery, regret, and shame all live
For willing souls to collect and burn.

How many times thunder has rolled
Causing my very heaven to shake.
Resurrecting all past fear and doubt
Starting a familiar old earthquake.

How many times I've almost drowned
In waves crashing on my soul’s sea.
I often wonder if there is anyone
Who would even try rescuing me?

How many times the storm has raged.
Tears inside seem to extinguish my fire.
In a sea of sorrow I seem to float
Just anticipating what will transpire.

Wearing a heavy shroud, so dark of cloud,
The constant cold just wears me down.
I seem to simply shiver my life away
Knowing one day I will surely drown.

Tears of life mingle with the rain,
Drowning hope, bringing desolation;
As I listen to each and every heartbeat
As they tick away to my ruination.

How many times life gnaws at my center,
Total darkness blocks any light to trust
I guess I’ve just another helpless victim of
The dark one’s unquenchable lust.

Unusual, dark post from you. You do so well in supressing this shadow. It is good.

Thank you m'friend, just spilled out, but wish I could spill like your kewl beans

What a wonderful portrait of fears that touch us all from time to time.  Well done!  KJ

Actually, I write more dark than anything else, but seldom do it in here.   Thanks for reading this.  See, you just never really know a person until you live with them right?     By the way, that little picture is my signature on dark poetry, has been for years, guess I had better name her.

A lot of people just put one foot in front of other hoping to get somewhere, sometimes it happens, sometimes not.

Sharon...dark it may be, but so very well done.  Will you write another if I tell you I haven't put any Christmas decorations up either, and that I'm not going to?

Good grief Martie! Get those decorations out of the boxes.  Get yourself a few cans of snow, and start spraying girl!  Sheesh, even if no one comes to visit, you simply must stand in front of the masterpiece you created by decorating, and sing Santa Claus Is Coming To Town at the top of your lungs.  Now this is best done best with a drum actually, and quite honestly I prefer to do a little jig.       If you don't get into the Christmas spirit early enough Santa is never going to find you come Christmas Eve?

Ho, ho, ho, where's that Martie's stocking now?  Ho, ho, ho!

I KNEW there was a reason I was being a big grinch! It was all a ruse to get you to write down some of this great dark poetry!

I'll happily take the responsibility Sharon. I love it when you write this flavour. Deep, dark, full of thought-provoking lines that I can very much relate to. I really loved this piece, well done!

(now that still doesn't mean I'm hauling out all those dusty Christmas boxes and decorating a tree this year though, lol)

Best wishes and hugs,
/Kit

Sharon,
We all go from one phase to another. Some will speak of them some will not. But not all do it in the good taste that you did.
Wonderful write.

To be honest, Kit's not bothering to put out decorations was frankly, well, quite depressing!  LOL, so her telling me that led to thinking about many a Christmas of mine, where I did the same thing but for an entirely different reason than being, just a little lazy lady!     When you have no spirit, you can feel absolutely nothing, and I don't ever wish to go down that road again, so you should see these decked halls I tell ya!

Sadly, there are many people like this, where hope is just a word.  Good grief, now wasn't that uplifting?
