Camp Orchestra

Violins in the night
playing a symphony devoid of sound-
drowned out by the hiss
of escaping gas.

Camp Garden

What flowers grew in Dachau’s soil
while whistles of once filled trains
pierced the night of nearby houses-
as inhabitants slept in mindless slumber.

Ashes rose as wisps of pungent fingers
escaping on a westerly wind-
nine miles outside of Munich
there was but one path to freedom
for a man with no name.

I cannot even begin to explain
the chills that went through me
with these.

We must never forget!
